More about Dr. Payne...

Dr. Cynthia Payne attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 1997. Her training included working with a very busy private optometry practice in Mississippi with extensive optical lab and eyeglass selection / fitting experience and also with a general ophthalmology practice in Memphis, TN with an emphasis on cataract surgery management, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and macular degeneration management.

She began her career as an optometrist in private optometry practice in Nashville, TN and has continued her professional career as a practicing optometrist more recently in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Payne is the owner and optometrist for Trendsetter Eyewear in the Summerlin, Las Vegas, NV area since 2011 and provides eyecare for the west Las Vegas and Summerlin community.

Dr. Payne provides routine eye exams and is skilled at diagnosing many ocular diseases including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes and hypertensive retinopathy. She routinely treats diseases of the anterior segment, which included dry eyes, allergies, and various forms of infections or “red eye”.  She prescribes eyeglasses for all vision need such as computer lenses, sports eyeglasses , and progressive lenses. Dr. Payne’s prior optometric experience and training enables her to fit and recommend all specialty designs of contact lenses from RGP (rigid gas permeable), toric lenses (for astigmatism), multifocal contact lenses or monovision options for presbyopes, or contact lenses for “hard-to-fit” people with irregular post-surgical corneas or corneal disease such as kerataconus. She is also certified in myopia (near-sightedness) control contact lenses with CRT lenses and MiSight soft multifocal contact lenses.

Dr. Payne has worked as a contracted optometrist with Lasik of Nevada since 2008 providing pre- and post-operative care for patients who seek laser eye surgery such as LASIK or PRK. She has evaluated and provided post-operative care for over 10,000 eyes for patients having surgery at Lasik of Nevada in their Las Vegas, Summerlin, and Reno, NV locations.

Dr. Payne is a certified optometrist by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry for the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is a State Licensed Optometrist by the Board of Optometry for the practice of Optometry in Nevada. She is a 2014 member of Distinguished Women in Nevada and a Consumers’ Research Council of America awarded member of America’s Top Optometrists. She has been expanding her specialty knowledge in Visual Rehabilitation and Neuro-Optometry by attending programs by some of the acknowledged global leaders such as Dr. Sanet, Dr. Collier and trainings presented by the Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association.

When Dr. Payne is not working as an optometrist at the Summerlin, Las Vegas Trendsetter Eyewear office, she enjoys her downtime traveling, visiting her family, or reading a great book. She feels the best things about living in Las Vegas are the fabulous weather and the fact that there are very few bugs in Las Vegas!
